Fairfax Recreation is excited to partner again with community members who brought this idea to our department.  Did you know dances were held regularly in the Pavilion since the 1930’s for a variety of fundraising activities and ways to help the community connect.  The original building was built in 1875 as a DANCE PAVILION by the railroad.  On Saturday, April 25th we are opening the doors to hold a Square Dance Night for all ages.  So, grab your family, your partner or come on down by yourself to enjoy what will surely be a festive evening of movement, laughter and joy.

🍲 Fairfax Soup Walk
Saturday, February 28, 2026 | 2–6 PM
A co-sponsored event by Fairfax Park & Recreation and the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce

Warm up winter with the Fairfax Soup Walk, a self-guided soup tasting event that brings the community into local restaurants throughout Fairfax during a slower season. Explore downtown Fairfax and the Sir Francis Drake / Center Blvd area while sampling seasonal soups and supporting local businesses.

How It Works

• Purchase a ticket in advance online (Link TBD)

• Pick up your bracelet and event map at check-in in the parkade

• Walk between participating restaurants at your own pace

• Enjoy soup tastings during the event window

• Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026

• Time: 2–6 PM

• Locations: Downtown Fairfax AND Sir Francis Drake/Center Blvd area

• Ticket Price: $25 per person

• Format: Self-guided, walkable event

• Weather: Rain or shine

Tastings are available to ticket holders with an event bracelet.

Participating restaurants will be announced as they are confirmed.

Tickets are sold in advance through Fairfax Park & Recreation.

We are cooking up a new idea for early 2026 — a Soup Walk that would invite the community to sample seasonal soups from local restaurants and cafés while strolling through town.

If you are not open from 2-6 PM, please have staff available to serve soup. The timing was intentional to avoid the lunch and dinner rush.

The concept:

• Each participating business would offer a small 4 oz sample of soup to wristbband holders

• Park & Rec provides the supplies - wristbands, compostable bowls, and spoons. Includes map.

• Get free marketing and give customers a fun way to engage

• The event would be walkable, cozy, and community-focused

• We’d promote it through Chamber marketing and invite locals to vote for their favorite

• In February, when things are quieter, and soup sounds perfect

3rd Annual Fairfax Winter Market

Block Party in Downtown Fairfax - Bolinas Rd between Broadway and Elsie Lane

The Fairfax Chamber is organizing our annual Winter Market this December — a nighttime street party that brings together 300–500 locals and families for music, performances, kids’ activities, and holiday cheer. All of our schools participate (from preschool through high school)!

Bring the family and make a night of it!

Manor families are bringing the cheer! Join their students and parents for a big, joyful Winter Singalong right in the heart of the Market. Classic songs, happy voices, and that unmistakable Fairfax sparkle — come sing your heart out or just soak in the joy.

Heartwood – Handmade Felt Ornaments

Heartwood will be selling their beautiful felt ornaments — each one crafted with care and full of charm. Swing by to pick up a sweet keepsake or stocking stuffer. 

RVC – Popcorn Bar with Toppings

Ross Valley Charter is rolling in hot with a build-your-own popcorn bar. Classic popcorn + toppings galore. Kids love it, adults “pretend it’s for the kids,” and everyone walks away happy.

San Domenico School – Facepainting

San Domenico students are teaming up for festive facepainting — a sweet little moment of magic in the middle of the Market. Stop by and let the holiday creativity flow.

First Friends Preschool - Kid area

First Friends is hosting a cozy Kids Area with giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, toys, and glowing luminary lights — a sweet spot for little ones to play while the Market buzzes around them.

The Grotto – Pop-Up Sauna Experience

Yes, really — The Grotto is rolling in a mobile sauna for the Winter Market. Warm up, chill out, or just enjoy the steam drifting down Bolinas. It’s peak Fairfax energy. Bring a bathing suit and towel!

Fishmonger Don – DJ + Oysters

Fishmonger Don is bringing the good vibes and the oysters. Live DJ sets between musical acts and fresh oysters on the half shell. You’ll hear him before you see him.

Peruva Auto – Tamales

Peruva is serving up hot, delicious tamales — the perfect winter night street food. Grab one and keep strolling.

Siren Sisters – Soup

Siren Sisters will be simmering in style with warm, comforting soup to keep everyone cozy. Bring a spoon or just bring an appetite.

Annual Fairfax Halloween Parade is on Halloween!

The parade will begin 5pm at the Fairfax Movie Theatre on Broadway Blvd and will follow the sidewalk down to Bolinas Rd then left down to Elsie Lane and cross over to Bolinas Park and the "Haunted Grove" for fun and music. Be sure to enter the Halloween Costume Contest! Little kids, big kids, groups/family.

Please remember to stay on the sidewalk all the way to Bolinas Park.

There will be trick or treating at each of the storefronts on the way.
